The first ever National Archives Independence Day Parade Float featured the Declaration of Independence and other "National Treasures" from the holdings of the National Archives. This float launched the National Independence Day Parade in front of the National Archives Building. The float also featured a brand new National Archives logo. The National Archives Building in Washington, DC, was designed by noted architect John Russell Pope. Inspired by Pope's classical architecture and sculptural detail, the logo features a majestic stone eagle. The eagle symbolizes protection -- underscoring the role of the National Archives as guardian of this nation's records.

My girlfriend, Kayla, and I recently took a trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. One night we decided to charter a sail boat to go see the sunset on the Calibogue Sound, the body of water between Hilton Head Island, Dufuskee Island and Savannah, Georgia. Our captain , Josh, aka "Josh the Pirate" told us many great stories about the history of the area. He led us near a few dolphins playing and he kept the sails open until the sun beamed red and dropped into the horizon of water. On the way back to land, he sang "Redemption Song."

Coming home down the inter-coastal waterway after catching 8 or 9 redfish and missing at least that many, my buddy Ronnie and I saw what can only be the epitomy of the winter of '09 to 2010, a seal sunning itself on a jetski launch . Water temp was in the hi 40's and seal looked a little injured (hope not ) but its the first seal I have ever heard of on land in South Carolina. Something about August makes me think about charter fishing out of the Atlantic City Brigantine Inlet with Captain John Wilkinson aboard the deep sea charter fishing boat BABU. I have had numerous successful fishing trips where we caught Tuna, Shark, Bluefish, Weakfish, Sea bass, & Stripers. If you are in Atlantic City for a convention, or visiting the Atlantic City Casinos please consider what I feel is the best Atlantic City Fishing Charter. Three things you want your deep sea fishing charter captain to be well versed in are #1 knows where the fish are off Atlantic City, #2-boating safety, and # 3 (refer to #1) knows where the fish are. You dont expect your charter fishing trip captain to be a rocket scientist, just so long as he knows about #1, #2 & #3. I am here to tell you a secret about Captain John Wilkinson. He actually is a rocket scientist. This Villanova educated engineer in fact was involved in the engineering side of rockets, but his true passion has always been the deep sea fishing. During his engineering career he couldnt wait to get out deep sea saltwater fishing. Now that he is retired, living in Brigantine, NJ, he gets to do what he has dreamed about since he was a child. I enjoy living in Charleston, SC, but I definitely miss running out to the canyon for some deep sea charter fishing with Captain John Wilkinson off Atlantic City, NJ.
